Ranking the Sixers' top offseason targets fit from pipedream to probable
By Cal Durrett
Despite getting off to a red-hot start to the 2023–24 season, the Philadelphia 76ers limped into the playoffs and were ultimately eliminated in the first round by the New York Knicks. That marked a disappointment for what was mostly an encouraging season that saw them expertly navigate the James Harden situation and see Tyrese Maxey breakout and make his first all-star team.
On the bright side, they will have as much as $61 million in cap space and several extra first-round picks at their disposal thanks to the Harden deal. That gives the Sixers more options than most playoff teams that failed to advance to the second round have and they also have big building blocks in Joel Embiid and Maxey.
All of that should make them an attractive free agent destination for the several stars that are expected to be available. Better still, they should have enough assets to be able to pull off a big trade if one should present itself. As a result, the Sixers have a great chance to dramatically improve their roster, with seven potential options they should consider.
