1. Luka Doncic

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is the top point guard at this stage in the season. Averaging 31.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 8.4 assists, Doncic is leading the way not only for the Mavericks, but for point guards across the league. It's not just the base box stats that he's putting up, but the efficiency with which he's doing it.

Doncic is enjoying a career year from beyond the arc. While he has never been a stranger to the idea of putting up shots from deep, averaging 8.3 attempts from beyond per game over his career, it's all about efficiency for Luka this season. Knocking down triples at a career mark of 38.8% while also experiencing a career year in true shoot percentage with a percentage of 61.6, Luka is as dominant as ever.

While Luka Doncic remains the second favorite in terms of MVP odds, his position as the top point guard in the NBA remains tenuous with the stellar play of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Luka is coasting a bit on reputation, which is surely not meant as an insult as his reputation is stellar.

Even still, trailing SGA in a litany of different areas of impact, including turnover percentage, offensive and defensive rating, true shooting, and a vast difference in on/off net rating, could lead to the end of his reign as the NBA's top point guard.
