NBA Trades: Would the Warriors agree to the deal?

This trade would be a complicated one for the Warriors, to say the least. On one hand, they would add the player that they have been pursuing by acquiring Markkanen; on the other, they'd be helping out a rival.

While there may be some question as to whether the Warriors would rather move one of their better players to a rival, keeping Kuminga, adding and later re-signing Markkanen, and maxing out Curry when he is extension-able would make them very expensive. It would potentially limit their ability to improve their roster while staying under the second apron.

Therefore, moving Kuminga to the Kings and having them send the Jazz an unprotected first-rounder and an unprotected pick swap would save the Warriors both financially and as far as assets. As far as picks, they would really only be giving up an unprotected first and an unprotected first-round pick swap, along with Moody, with Kuminga saving them from having to give up more. That could potentially free the Warriors up to make another move down the road, using their picks to help improve their roster around Curry and Markkanen.

Then again, keeping Kuminga might give them the player that they need to build a new big three if he continues to develop. Ultimately, the Warriors may not get Markkanen without giving up Kuminga and their continued pursuit of him suggests that they may be willing to do so. Assuming that is the case, then we could agree to the deal.
