1) Walker Kessler
Of all the centers on this list, Utah Jazz big man Walker Kessler is the cheapest and potentially the most realistic option for the Pelicans. Kessler, despite being one of the best friend protectors in the NBA, actually took a step back last season and has yet to become a full-time starter with the Jazz. They even seem willing to trade him if the right offer comes along.
One such offer may involve the Pelicans trading Ingram for Kessler, John Collins, and a 2027 first-round pick. That might be a mutually beneficial deal for both teams. The Pelicans would land a starting center and a capable backup power forward in Kessler and Collins, in addition to adding a future first.
The Jazz, on the other hand, would be able to pair Ingram with Lauri Markkanen, whom they just extended this summer. Ingram probably wouldn't be their first choice of co-stars for their best player but he is available and the Pelicans seemingly haven't found much trade interest for him.
The Jazz might try him out for the season and see how he fits and worst-case scenario, let him leave if it proves unsuccessful. Then again, they would be in a prime position to re-sign Ingram, and possibly on an affordable deal if he still doesn't manage to draw interest from other teams.
Adding Kessler to the Pelicans frontline would beef up their defense, with him joining Dejounte Murray, Trey Murphy III, Herb Jones, and Zion Williamson in the starting lineup. Having three-plus defenders around Williamson would make his life easier and Murray may potentially return to his defensive roots playing in that lineup. It's definitely something the Pelicans should consider.
