4) Clint Capela

Earlier this summer, the Pelicans traded for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray. However, many were surprised that New Orleans didn't also acquire Hawks center Clint Capela. Atlanta is seemingly teetering on a rebuild, or at least a retooling and Capela doesn't appear to fit into their long-term plans. They also have Anyeka Okongwu, who is ready to step in and replace him if given the chance.

The Pelicans could circle back around and target Capela, given that he may be the best and most realistic option on the trade market. Then again, they probably tried to acquire him and obviously failed to do so. Atlanta may always reconsider, with them probably wanting to remain competitive to ensure that they don't give up an unprotected first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs in 2025.

That may not matter if they can't compete with Capela and company. With New Orleans needing a starting center, the Hawks have one to spare. It seems like a decent chance that a deal between the two teams could eventually get done. Just perhaps not before the start of the season, which may hurt New Orleans.
