5) Jarrett Allen

Although he was just recently re-signed to a four-year extension, Cleveland Cavaliers big man Jarrett Allen may still be traded in 2024-25 ahead of the trade deadline. Allen was seen as a prime trade target before he was extended, limiting New Orleans' options at center. Fortunately for New Orleans, his new contract was signed before the August 6th deadline, which means that he can be moved during this season but not officially until January 29th, 2025.

Finding a deal that makes sense for both the Pelicans and Cavs may be tricky, with the most obvious involving Ingram. However, the Cavs may not want to have to pay him, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland at least $30 million a year. The same could be said of CJ McCollum, though the Pelicans can always find a third team to take one of those players in a deal for Allen.

Allen's size, athleticism, rebounding, and rim protection make him the ideal low-usage center who would allow New Oleans to answer a big roster question long term. Whether the Pelicans can wait that long to address their need at center is doubtful, but they would have to if they believe that Allen makes the most sense for their roster.
