NBA Trades: Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have had a bad offseason for several reasons. They saw their already paper-thin depth get thinner with the departure of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, whom they should have been able to keep.

They also saw their 2024 first-round pick tear his ACL, likely delaying his integration into their rotation by a full year. Lastly, they gave Jamal Murray a max contract, which has the chance to become an awful deal. With bad news after bad news, they should consider making a last-minute deal to shake things up.

One option could be to trade Michael Porter Jr., Zeke Nnaji, and a 2030 top 1 protected pick swap to the Atlanta Hawks for De'Andre Hunter and Bojan Bogdanovic. The deal would save the Nuggets from having to pay Nnaji's awful contract and help them restore some of their depth by trading one rotation player for two. Hunter and Bogdanovic could also offset some of the shooting lost from losing Caldwell-Pope and Porter Jr.

The Hawks would turn two players with similar salaries to Porter Jr. into a younger player with higher upside who goes way back with Trae Young. They would also get a tempting pick swap that would make taking back Nnaji's contract potentially worth it. Denver should consider this deal.
