Nets-Mavs trade

NBA Trades: Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn's rumored interest in Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler calls into question whether they will try to build through draft or via trades and free agency. If they choose the latter, then they may try to find another star to pair Butler with a head of next summer.

There aren't many available options, though so they may look to make a smaller deal to try and build up their draft war chest and also increase their chances of landing the top pick. One deal could involve sending Dorian Finney-Smith back to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Maxi Kleber, Jaden Hardey, A.J. Lawson, and a 2031 pick swap.

That pick swap would be the star of the deal with the Mavericks roster an unknown that far out. Especially with Kyrie Irving being 32 years old and that Luka Doncic will be in his early 30's and there is no guarantee that he will even be in Dallas.

That could make that pick swap a lottery pick and potentially worth giving up Finney-Smith for the chance to get a high pick down the road. It could also help them secure a higher pick in next year's draft, with them likely eyeing Cooper Flagg.
