Grizzlies-Heat trade

NBA Trades: Memphis Grizzlies

After a terrible 2023–24 season that Memphis Grizzlies fans would probably want to forget, there is reason for optimism. They will have rising superstar Ja Morant back and hopefully out of trouble for good, as well as rookie of the year frontrunner Zach Edey.

Still, they will need a shot in the arm to compete in the West with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City leveling up while the Grizzlies were stuck at the bottom of the standings. There are also the Denver Nuggets, whom they might struggle against.

With them perhaps the fourth-best team in their conference, they might look to make a major move. A potential deal might go something like this: the Grizzlies could send Brandon Clarke, John Konchar, Marcus Smart, and Santi Aldama to the Heat, as well as two firsts, for Butler and Josh Richardson.

The Grizzlies would sacrifice depth but they would dramatically improve their ceiling with Butler built for the playoffs. A starting five of Morant, Demond Bane, Butler, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Edey is a heck of a starting five, though their depth might be paper thin. Even so, they should have enough shooting, defense, and shot creation to go toe-to-toe with anyone in the West playoffs.
