NBA Trades: LA Clippers

Note: Trade can't be completed until October 12th, 2024

The LA Clippers had a head-scratching summer that was headlined by them letting star Paul George leave for the Philadelphia 76ers. The Clippers had no way of replacing him and they didn't but letting him leave for the Sixers is doubly disappointing.

Not only did they lose their second-best player ahead of the opening of their new arena, but they gave up two first-round picks, a pick swap, and a second to the Sixers back in January. That was in an attempt to try and build around George and Leonard. Now, the picks they gave up and that deal will be better since the Clippers will be worse without George.

Without many assets remaining, they could try to make the best of a dire situation by trading for polarizing forward Miles Bridges. Bridges off-court behavior is a major red flag but that hasn't stopped the Clippers in the past and the Charlotte Hornets likely re-signed him knowing that they were going to move him the first chance they got.

As far as a deal, the Clippers could send PJ Tucker, Norm Powell, and a 2030 pick swap to the Hornets for Bridges. In spite of his controversy, Bridges averaged 21 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season and that type of production would be helpful on a Clippers team that features an aging Leonard as well as James Harden.

Having more perimeter scoring would help lighten their load, make the Clippers younger, and give them a fighting chance to make the playoffs next season.
