Lakers land two major upgrades in potential deal with the Blazers and Raptors

The hypothetical deal would see the Lakers trade D'Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and a 2025 second-rounder to the Raptors in exchange for Bruce Brown. Additionally, Rui Hachimura, Christian Wood, Gabe Vincent, and a 2029 top-3 protected first would be sent to the Blazers in exchange for Jerami Grant, and the Raptors would also send Portland a top-55 protected 2026 second.

The seven-player, three-team deal would see the Lakers dramatically remake their roster by swapping out five players and adding two starters. It would also see the Raptors and Blazers move their best assets for seemingly fair value. The Raptors would get another veteran that they could potentially flip, a player who was recently selected in the first round, and a second-round pick.

On the other hand, the Blazers would get a lightly protected future first-rounder as well as two flippable players, but the clear value would come from the Lakers' 2029 first. In theory, the deal makes sense for the Raptors, Blazers, and Lakers, but it only takes one team to say no to the 3-team swap. Next, we will see whether each team will agree to the deal as proposed, starting with the Blazers.
