Jazz-Pelicans-BI trade

NBA Trades: The Jazz land Brandon Ingram in a tantalizing potential deal with the Pelicans.

The hypothetical trade would see the Jazz to acquire Brandon Ingram from the Pelicans in exchange for John Collins, Walker Kessler, and a 2027 first-round pick. The deal itself is fairly straightforward, with Utah getting a co-star in Ingram for a seemingly fair price.

The Pelicans don't appear to have any other takers for Ingram so moving him in a deal for a starting-caliber center in Kessler would solve a major roster hole. Better still, he is an elite rim protector who is only 23 years old and will make just $7.8 million over the next two seasons.

Collins is overpaid at this point, with him making $26.5 million each of the next two seasons but he was an effective starter last season and could fill a key role in New Orleans' second unit. Lastly, the Jazz would give up a 2027 first-round pick, and they are in a unique position to do so with them having three firsts that year, including Milwaukee's, Minnesota's, and their own selection.

They can offer up the most favorable of those three picks, which could potentially be a lottery pick, depending on how Utah, Milwaukee, and Minnesota look in three years. The framework of the deal makes sense in theory, but would either team actually agree to the trade? First we see if the Pelicans would, then the Jazz.
