NBA Trades: 3 spicy potential last-minute deals the Knicks must consider
By Cal Durrett
NBA Trades: Knicks land Walker Kessler in potential 3-team deal.
The potential deal would see the Knicks send Mitchell Robinson to the New Orleans Pelicans in a three-team deal also involving the Utah Jazz. The Jazz would receive Brandon Ingram, the Pelicans would receive John Collins, and a first from Utah. Meanwhile, the Knicks would get back Jordan Hawkins, Karlo Matkovic, and Walker Kessler.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Knicks tried to trade for Kessler this summer. They didn't have enough draft picks after the Mikal Bridges deal, which prevented them from acquiring him. However, in this potential deal, the Knicks would trade Robinson to the Pelicans, who are in need of a starting center.
In turn, they would trade Ingram to the Jazz. In theory, that deal would work out for each team, with the Pelicans addressing their biggest flaw, the Jazz getting a talent upgrade, and moving two players that they have been shopping for a star that will help them raise their floor.
As for the Knicks, they'd add a terrific defense player who is five years younger than Robinson and far cheaper as well as more durable. If this deal were to materialize, then New York should strongly consider it.
