NBA Trades: 3 spicy potential last-minute deals the Knicks must consider
By Cal Durrett
NBA Trades: The Knicks land Nick Richards in potential deal.
The Knicks have been linked to Charlotte Hornets center Nick Richards and he still makes sense as a potential trade target after the Towns trade. Richard started last season for the Hornets and averaged an impressive 9.7 points on 69.1% shooting as well as 8 rebounds in just 26.3 minutes per game. However, they also have Mark Williams, whom they may start over him.
The Knicks trading for him now would give them a good center replacement for Robinson, who may miss up to two months of the season. They could have Richards start or even backup Towns and see how that looks. If it works, then they may look to move Robinson at the trade deadline instead.
Jericho Sims, Pacome Dadiet, Cam Payne, and two seconds might be enough to make a deal happen. If it were to happen, then New York would have shored up their frontcourt on the cheap while not sacrificing any rotation players. With the uncertainty around Robinson's health and question marks about Towns playing center, the Knicks should look seriously at trading for Richards.
