New York Knicks fans are still reeling in the aftermath of the blockbuster trade for Karl-Anthony Towns. Their roster may now be set but perhaps it shouldn't be with one more piece left to move. They have a few potential trade options, namely starting center Mitchell Robinson.
Robinson may be expendable with their new-look roster, and he potentially does not fit their style of play. Even if he is, he's making $14 million, which is not worth the role he may play.
Trading Robinson might seem risky, especially since Towns has often struggled to play center but they are likely to be without him for several weeks. That will give them a chance to see how their starting lineup featuring Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Towns fits. On paper, having three good defenders to surround Brunson and Towns should help Towns in particular.
Coach Tom Thibodeau is known as being defensive-minded so he would be the one to make that lineup work. If he can, then that would make Robinson their backup big man and potential expendable. Particularly with the Knicks, which are only $3.5 million under the second apron for next season. With that in mind, here are Mitchell Robinson trades Knicks must consider.
