4) Dejounte Murray
Although the Spurs have been repeatedly linked to Hawks guard Trae Young, they have also been linked to his teammate and former Spur Dejounte Murray. Murray spent the first six seasons of his career with the Spurs before being traded to Atlanta in a lopsided deal that has worked out in San Antonio's favor. At the time, they had plenty of assets and solid young players but no one that they could build around.
Now, after bottoming out to land the number one pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, they have rising superstar Victor Wembanyama. Ironically, the Spurs have shown interest in reacquiring Murray, who is still close with coach Gregg Popovich, and he'd be a terrific fit. He has plenty of experience playing in the Spurs' offense and has developed into a solid playmaker in the pick-and-roll after playing with all-star LaMarcus Aldridge as well as Jakob Poeltl.
That would make him an ideal fit to play next to Wembanyama since he is skilled at finding big men for open jumpers and finding them as they roll to the basket. Wembanyama can do both well and Murray could also thrive as the ball handler in the pick-and-roll thanks to his being a reliable pull-up midrange shooter. He's also become a capable 3-point shooter and if his defense can return to form, then he'd be an excellent offseason target.
