GSW-TOR trade

Grade the Trade #1: The Warriors land a star from the Toronto Raptors.

Lastly, we arrive at what is perhaps the best of Bleacher Reports' proposed deals. This particular pitch involves Golden State trading three rotation players, Kuminga, Wiggins, and Payton II, in exchange for Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam. Considering that he is on an expiring contract and unlikely to re-sign in Toronto, this would be a competitive offer, particularly with the Raptors not interested in a teardown.

Kuminga overlaps some with Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett in terms of position, but it would be a talent play and put them in a position to re-sign him should he pan out. Meanwhile, Wiggins is probably washed, though he might be rejuvenated playing in Canada. As cheesy as that might sound, it's at least possible, while Payton II is a more than capable rotation player who could later be flipped if needed.

For Golden State, they'd get off of Wiggins and his increasingly ugly-looking contract while also turning a former 7th overall pick into a star in Siakam, who'd also make Green obsolete. Green could be shipped out in a separate deal, allowing the Warriors to retool on the fly around Curry without sacrificing future first-round picks or taking back bad contracts. That would be a win for the Warriors, and this deal may be palatable for the Raptors. Trade Grade: B.
