Grade the Trade: Spurs give Wembanyama perfect running mate in mock deal with Cavs
By Dalton Sell
By all accounts, Victor Wembanyama exceeded even the loftiest of expectations in his rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs. Though the Spurs still had their struggles as a whole, this entire year was about getting the rookie on the floor and seeing what he could do.
Now, the goal should be to build a roster worthy of contention around him, rather than take a slow approach. Wembanyama is already dangerously close to being a household superstar, and the San Antonio Spurs need to act accordingly.
Who should be on San Antonio's radar? The common names have been point guards, with both of Atlanta's stars, Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, having been floated around in some capacity over the past few months. The idea of pairing Wembanyama with an established star guard makes all of the sense in the world and could take his game to yet another level beyond this one. Next up, we will take a look at a proposed deal involving the Spurs and grade the trade.
