Grade the Trade: Miami goes for broke in this wild proposed deal for Lakers MVP

In Simmons' trade proposal, Miami would receive former Heat superstar LeBron James as well as Gabe Vincent, who left Miami to sign with the Lakers. Meanwhile, the Lakers would receive Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jovic, and a first-round pick. It goes without saying that that is a lopsided deal in the Heat's favor, but there may be more to the proposed deal than that.

The Heat and LeBron didn't end on the best of terms, with him getting Pat Riley to fly cross-country to try and convince him to return to Miami, only for him to decide to return to Cleveland. Still, he led the Heat to four straight NBA Finals and consecutive championships in 2013 and 2014.

They would surely love to have him back, especially if it wouldn't cost them Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Jacquez, who is likely now their best young asset. On the other hand, the Lakers probably wouldn't be thrilled about the deal as is but it's clear that they will need to do something drastic to shake up their roster and a prolonged slump may force their hand. Next, we'll take a look at the trade from the Heat's perspective and see whether they would agree to the deal.
