Every NBA team's playoff chances ranked from pipe dream to probable

The All-Star Game is approaching, and the season is more than halfway through for every NBA team. The playoff picture is crystallizing, though there's still plenty of wiggle room for franchises that could find themselves in - or out - of the postseason come the spring.

Every team in the league can be placed in a tier. The top teams are probable to make the playoffs, having pulled away from the pack or something close to it. Some have little shot of qualifying at this point for the opposite reason - here's looking at you, Detroit

Let's rank the NBA teams' playoff chances this season, from those almost definitely into those almost certainly out.

We've waited until after the trade deadline has passed to make these judgment calls. Teams made their intentions rather clear prior to Thursday and certain teams' playoff destinies were clearly impacted by the decisions made by front offices across the association.

As is officially the case when gathering statistics, the nebulous play-in games do not count as being part of the playoffs; they are used to determine the final two playoff spots in each conference. So, we're looking at the odds that a team will nab any spot from first to eighth in their respective conferences.
