The Bulls are drawing plenty of headlines ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline, but Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Alex Caruso are the names mentioned. If Chicago decides to blow things up, Williams could be an intriguing under-the-radar target.

The 22-year-old was unable to agree on an extension with the Bulls before the start of the season. He will become a restricted free agent in the summer and is rumored to be looking for $20 million per season in his next contract.

The Mavericks would love to add a young combo forward with room to blossom. Williams is a 41.3 percent career 3-point shooter with the size and length to be a versatile defender. His defense has not been great, but the 22-year-old is far from a finished product.

The Bulls may be reluctant to trade him after Lauri Markkanen became an All-Star in Utah. Williams has not blossomed in the Windy City, and the team is not eager to give him a hefty contract. He is a name to watch before the trade deadline and could be part of a surprise trade.

The Dallas Mavericks will be active and aggressive in trade discussions. Nobody saw them trading for Kyrie Irving last season. Will Nico Harrison pull off another blockbuster or just try to upgrade the team’s talent and depth? Stay tuned to find out.
