Blast from the Past: 4 realistic Lakers moves to reunite them with ex-players
By Cal Durrett
4) Lonnie Walker IV
Former Lakers guard Lonnie Walker IV spent all of last season with the Brooklyn Nets and had a solid year, averaging 9.7 points in just over 17 minutes per game while shooting a career-high 38.4% from three. Despite having one of his most efficient seasons, he has yet to sign with an NBA team and appears to be set to sign another one-year deal, perhaps with the Lakers.
If they make a two- or three-for-one deal and need to fill out their roster, they could do far worse than Walker, who is an explosive athlete and an improved shooter. While they had a chance to bring him back last season, Walker is one of the better players remaining on the market and has experience playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
He even had a big playoff game, scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter of Game 4 of their series against the Memphis Grizzlies. That helped them swing the series, upsetting the number-two seed and eventually making the Western Conference. Having a player who can step in and put up points quickly. That makes Walker a seemingly good option for the Lakers and they should consider bringing him back.
