Winners: San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs haven't done much in free agency so far but what they have done could be enough to add 10–15 wins next season. The Spurs wisely jumped at the chance to sign future Hall of Famer Chris Paul after the Golden State Warriors cheaped him out and waived him and that may prove to be an impactful decision.

Paul has made an impact on several young teams throughout his career, first when he was a member of the New Orleans Hornets, then the LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns, and now potentially the Spurs. They also smartly acquired veteran Harrison Barnes, giving them another experienced starter.

The Spurs also have plenty of young talent, headlined by superstar in waiting Victor Wembanyama. They also have a rising star in Devin Vassell, two lottery picks in Jeremy Sochan and 2024 fourth overall pick Stephon Castle.

San Antonio will rely on Paul to mentor their young core and help take Wembanyama's game to the next level. With Wembanyama spending the summer playing in the Olympics, he should have a chance to further develop and with Paul throwing him lobs and setting him up for pick-and-pops, Wembanyama may take a major step forward next season. As a result, the Spurs may be far better than last season and are definitely off-season winners so far.
