Mikal Bridges, New York Knicks

Recently acquired by the Knicks, Bridges could very well be the 'X-factor' New York has been seeking to find for years. Bridges' stardom ascended after he was traded to Brooklyn from Phoenix for Kevin Durant. In 27 games with Brooklyn in 2022-23, the two-way elite averaged 26 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal per game. Bridges volume increased heavily, but his efficiency, shooting 48 percent, 38 percent from three, and 89 percent from the free throw line.

Last season was shaky for Bridges when comparing his 2022-23 numbers with the Nets. Two years ago, Bridges finished fourth in Most Improved Player voting, as the Nets began to pronounce Bridges as their franchise cornerstone into the future. His production dropped significantly last season, though. The 'Swiss Army knife' averaged 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal per game. He shot 44 percent, 37 percent from three, and 81 percent from the free throw line.

Despite the dip in production and efficiency, Bridges remains one of the league's best defenders, offering a consistent three-point shot to complement his defense. In a new role alongside a loaded Knicks core that includes Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, Bridges can re-establish his efficiency, defensive motor, and shooting as the Knicks chase title contention in 2024-25. It may not be big, gaudy numbers for Bridges next season, but his impact will be felt as he enters his prime (age 28).
