The New York Knicks have long been linked to Karl Anthony Towns and with rumors that star Julius Randle may be shopped this summer, it seems plausible that there could be a trade involving them. A hypothetical deal between the Knicks and Wolves could send Towns to New York and Randle and Bojan Bogdanovic to the Wolves.
Turning Towns into another all-star player in Randle, who arguably had a better regular season as well as a veteran marksman, makes sense for Minnesota since it would give them two rotation players for roughly the price of one. Randle would slot into the spot vacated by Towns in their starting lineup next to Rudy Gobert.
He is also less reliant on shooting from outside and should keep the Wolves from taking a step back. The Wolves would also receive a scoring boost off the bench with Bogdanovic, who, when healthy, is one of the most accurate high-volume shooters in the NBA.
As for the Knicks, they wouldn't be able to keep both Randle and Bogdanovic, so turning them into a star player that they have been linked to doesn't seem far-fetched. And while Towns' contract is a concern, the salary cap is soon set to rise by around 10% a year, with his deal probably becoming more affordable going forward, giving both teams a reason to consider the deal.
