The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be sellers this summer, with all three of their all-stars expected to be available. One of those players is all-star Darius Garland, who seems likely to be moved. The Wolves could theoretically pair him with rising superstar Anthony Edwards to give them their backcourt of the future.
A possible three-team deal involving the Cavs, Wolves, and Memphis Grizzlies could see Garland and Georges Niang shipped to Minnesota. Additionally, Towns, Luke Kennard, John Konchar, and two first-rounders would go to the Cavs, and Jarrett Allen would be traded to the Grizzlies.
In theory, that would be a beneficial deal to each team, with the Cavs getting an all-star and two first-round picks, including possibly the ninth pick, depending on whether the deal was to happen before the 2024 NBA draft. The Grizzlies would get a big upgrade at center with Allen.
Last but not least, Minnesota would pair a star in Garland, who is just 23 years old and under contract for three more years, with Edwards. That would give the Wolves a long-term, all-star backcourt and extend their title window by several years, with Garland being four years younger than KAT. That makes this a possibly tantalizing deal for the Wolves.
