5 Bold Zach LaVine trades the Chicago Bulls must consider
By Cal Durrett
1) Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be in the market for a third star, and they have been linked to the Bulls' LaVine. After trading most of their assets in the Anthony Davis deal, the deal to acquire Russell Westbrook, and the subsequent Westbrook trade, they might seem like an unlikely LaVine destination.
However, the Lakers should have just enough assets to make the Bulls a competitive offer. That could include the Lakers offering D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Tauren Prince, a 2026 first-round pick swap, and a 2029 top-5 protected first for LaVine.
Though the trade couldn't happen until January 15th due to Hachimura being re-signed using bird rights, that might complicate a potential deal with Chicago. After all, the aforementioned teams may be looking to acquire him before then, and having to wait a month and a half to trade for him puts the Lakers at a big disadvantage.
One thing that possibly helps the Lakers is that LaVine might not be as in demand as first thought, meaning that other teams may not be offering their best trade packages initially. That could give the Lakers a chance, and they have a tendency to acquire stars via trades, for better or for worse, so it's hard to count them out entirely.
