Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies

Ja Morant, a player who seemed to hit the ground running before his off-court issues and an eventual 25-game suspension to start last season, may very well be the league's top choice to represent its future. Morant's highlight reel, combined with his on-court aura, makes him an attractive option for the league as it nears 2030.

The constant 'attack' mentality of Morant resembles elite guards of the past like Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, and arguably John Wall. Morant's biggest concerns consist of off-the-court issues detrimental to Ja and the league. Any mention of guns, violence, and other unethical actions has always been a big 'no-no' action for the league.

All of those various off-court issues stem from Morant, who's been doubting whether he can turn it around. The league put Morant's career in jeopardy in hopes that he would not only turn it around but become the role model that so many young fans look up to.

If Morant can truly go full circle and turn around his behavior, the league has no reason to hold back on its push for him as their top superstar of the future. Playing for a small market franchise (Memphis), Morant has helped put the Grizzlies on the map through national media coverage, nationally televised games, and simply by winning games. Morant's talent is unquestioned, averaging 25 points or more each of the last three seasons, including two straight seasons averaging over eight assists per game.

Considering the combination of team and individual success amongst nearly every player on this list, the decision to tag a player as the 'next LeBron James' could be difficult and heavily criticized. Even though the league will never have another LeBron James, they must find their future top ambassador of the sport. But will it be an American-born player or a dominant foreign-born player?
