Lonnie Walker IV - Boston Celtics

As the weeks went on, it seemed like Lonnie Walker IV would never get signed. Considering he was coming off a decent year with the Brooklyn Nets, it grew more surprising with each day he remained unsigned. However, the Boston Celtics put an end to this by signing Walker to an Exhibit 10 contract, essentially letting him try out with them in camp while not guaranteeing a roster spot.

Signing Walker on a non-guaranteed deal like this is a flat-out steal. Last season, he averaged a line of 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 38.4 percent from deep. Walker is the type of spark that any contender could use off the bench, bringing scorer, shooting, and rebounding, all while spicing things up in transition with his freakish athleticism.

He'd fit seamlessly alongside Boston's current core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and more, but the big question is whether or not Walker gets promoted to their standard roster at some point.

Due to his contract, there's a chance Walker will spend time with Boston's affiliate in the G-League this coming season as he waits for an NBA opportunity. He could be the secret weapon in Boston's back pocket as they look to repeat as champions, waiting to be deployed at the right time. There's no doubt the 25-year-old can still help a team, so this is a masterful chess move by the Boston Celtics.
