8) San Antonio Spurs-Devin Carter
The Spurs have one of the best collections of young players in the NBA but they don't have much shooting or perimeter defense so that might lead to them taking Devin Carter. Carter would be among the older players taken in the lottery but that may actually benefit the Spurs since they don't need more projects.
Carter showed during the NBA combine that he was an elite athlete with an outstanding 42-inch vertical leap and he used that explosiveness to shoot 56% from two in college this past season. He also shot a terrific 37.7% on 5.6 3-point attempts per game to go along with strong rebounding and active defense.
Those skills would make him a great fit in San Antonio, especially if paired with Devin Vassell, Stephon Castle, Jeremy Sochan, and Victor Wembanyama. Carter would ensure that they wouldn't have any weak link defensively, which, when combined with a dominant shot blocker in Wembanyama, could pose big problems.
Carter would also add another shooter, and paired with Vassell, they should give Wembanyama enough spacing. Factor in that he could get Wembanyama the ball and Carter seems like the ideal choice at eight for San Antonio.
