2024 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Hawks play it safe, Wizards go big, Spurs fill two needs
By Cal Durrett
2) Washington Wizard-Alexandre Sarr
Assuming that the Hawks take Richasher first overall, that should make the Washington Wizards' decision of who to take at two much easier. The most obvious option is Alexandre Sarr, a 7'1 big man who looks like a top pick. His agility, length, and athleticism give him a great chance of developing into an all-star and making an impact on both ends of the floor. Offensively, paired with a good point guard, Sarr could be a terrific roll man in the pick and roll.
With slashers playing alongside him who can attack the paint, he would be able to feast on dump-off passes while in the dunkers spot or clean up missed shots. Defensively, his rim protection is intriguing and he is far more mobile than a typical 7'1 big man, which should allow him to stay in the play when guarding away from the rim.
The Wizards don't have much of anything at the moment but Sarr would be an excellent building block. If he develops, particularly on the offensive end as a 3-point shooter, he might be their next franchise player. For a team that has historically been mid for the last 40 years, that would be massive for the Wizards.
