2024 NBA Draft: Ranking 8 top prospects fit from awkward to awesome for the Spurs

2) Nikola Topic
With two top-10 picks in this year's draft, the Spurs are expected to select a guard to help address their lack of playmaking. Serbian point guard Nikola Topic may be an option with their pick since he is projected to go in the top five. Topic is considered to be the best pure playmaker in the 2024 NBA Draft and that, as well as the Spurs' history of selecting international players, makes him seem like an ideal fit.
Were they to select Topic, he may not start immediately, with Tre Jones potentially staying in that role but he would probably earn minutes at backup point guard and hopefully quickly work his way up. In addition to his court vision, Topic's size and ability to attack the basket are both interesting.
Topic has been listed at 6'6 without shoes, making him the size of an NBA wing. He also has impressive length, with a 7'0 wingspan, and that size allows him to see the floor better and deliver passes that smaller guards can't.
Additionally, he has a knack for getting to the rim and is also adept at tossing wrap-around passes to big men for easy dunks, which should get Wembanyama open shots. That makes him an ideal prospect for the Spurs.
