5) Ron Holland
No player in this year's draft has as much range to be selected as Ron Holland. He was the expected number one pick after being the top college recruit in 2023 but decided to join the soon-to-be defunct G-League Ignite. Despite his draft stock being as high as one and as low as nine, he arguably has the highest ceiling in his class.
The Spurs have two picks in that range, and they should have him on their board due to his potential alone. Holland is one of the better athletes in his class, and he is also one of the youngest, with him still being 18 years old until after the draft.
Both of those things bode well for Holland's ceiling, as does his playing well in the G-League, averaging 19.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game against more mature players. While he only shot 24% from three, he showed that he is more than capable of getting to the rim with the ball in his hands.
On the Spurs, he'll need to play more off-ball, so his developing into a good shooter will be key to his fit, but he should be effective as a transition player and cutting off-the-ball. If he can improve as a shooter and excel in those areas, then his ability to play with the ball could eventually become a major asset. Factor in that he projects to be a good defensive player and Holland would be a good option for the Spurs, who are in need of an upgrade at the three.
