NBA Trades: Would the Philadelphia 76ers agree to the deal?
Kuminga is just 22 years old and has plenty of untapped potential. This is evident by his average of 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and shooting 54.1% from the field last season from January 1st until the end of last season. That large sample size suggests that the Warriors are holding him back and would thrive elsewhere.
To their credit, there is a question of his position, with his ideal role being a small forward but his lack of outside shooting has made him a de facto power forward. That limits his role with the Warriors already having Draymond Green, who doesn't shoot threes, nor do starting center Trace Jackson-Davis as well as backup big man Kevon Looney.
The Sixers might not be able to offer a bigger role with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxwell, and Paul George, but they have great spacing. Maxey is one of the better shooters in the NBA, George is a reliable shooter, and Embiid can knock down threes.
Kuminga might not immediately start for the Sixers, but he'd make them deep and possibly fill a long-term role as a starter with enough upside to be more than that. Ultimately, it will come down to picks and whether the Sixers will offer more than one first or the quality of the firsts. However, Kuminga does make sense as a trade target for Philly.
