NBA Trades: Would the Spurs agree to the deal?

The Spurs have more picks than they know what to do with, which resulted in them trading away the eighth pick in the 2024 NBA Draft for a first in 2030 and a pick swap in 2031. That would seemingly call into question whether they would be interested in adding an extra pick in 2025.

Especially with them also owning a top-10 protected pick from the Chicago Bulls and a top-14 protected pick from the Charlotte Hornets. However, those picks are unlikely to convey, and if the Lakers and Kings get off to rocky starts, then the possibility of trading for those picks might make more sense.

After all, the Hawks' pick probably won't be as good as many Spurs fans are hoping for, with Atlanta uninterested in giving up a top-five pick. Instead, they will try to win and let the chips fall where they may.

They finished with the 10th-worst record last season but lucked out and ended up with the number-one pick. A bottom-five finish this season might result in similar lottery luck but with the Spurs as beneficiaries.

Ultimately, the Spurs will probably hold onto the Hawks' pick in the event that they struggle, particularly if Young misses significant time. Nevertheless, possibly having two lottery picks for the price of one is tempting.
