Although they weren't expected to do much, the New York Knicks had a surprisingly strong offseason. They added Jordan Clarkson and signed Guerschon Yabusele to a two-year, $7 million deal.
That move in particular could be huge for the Knicks, and he just showed why he was a huge signing. In EuroBasket, Yabusele dropped an eye-popping 36 points against Poland.

He was deep in his bag. Yabusele used physical drives to the basket and sharpshooting from deep to punish Poland while showing Knicks fans what he can do next season.
To be clear, he probably won't have nearly as big of a game with the Knicks next season, but he will still play a significant role next year. He gives the Knicks a versatile big man who can play both power forward after shooting 40% from three and is big enough to play at center.
That could mean he shares the floor with Karl-Anthony Towns or Mitchell Robinson, giving the Knicks mix-and-match potential with Yabusele.
Guerschon Yabusele just showed the Knicks his full potential
With a new coach and a much deeper bench that can go at least nine deep, New York won't be playing their starters big minutes. That's a good thing and gives players such as Yabusele a chance to shine on the Knicks.
Stealing him away from their rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers, is reason enough for Knicks fans to love him. However, he could carve out a big role.
The Knicks could use more frontcourt versatility, with Towns being an offense-only center and Robinson being a defense-only player. Yabusele has a bit more versatility to his game, with him being the size and mobility of a four but bulky enough to guard centers.
The New York Knicks desperately need what Yabusele provides
Factor in that he's a reliable shooter, and there's no reason why he can't carve out 20 minutes per game as a gritty contributor off the bench. That could be just the beginning for the Knicks, who have revamped their bench to try and move away from playing their starters big minutes.
Players such as Yabusele, Robinson, Clarkson, and Deuce McBride will be key to that. They will give the Knicks a much deeper rotation to rely on than last season's team. With any luck that could prove to be the difference and propel the Knicks to the NBA Finals for the first time in more than 25 years.
All in all, Knicks fans got a glimpse of Yabusele in action during the offseason with his strong showing against Poland in EuroBasket. With New York expected to rely more on their bench next season, Yabusele's versatility could make him a perfect fit on a reworked Knicks.
