Just two seasons into her career, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has proven herself to be among the most outspoken players in the WNBA. That has made her both fans and haters. But, hey, at least she's being honest, even if it may ruffle some feathers.

That's what happened with her latest comments in which she suggested that she could leave Chicago if they can't build a contender around her.

"I'm not settling for the same s--- we did this year... We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That's a non-negotiable for me. I'm willing and wanting to play with the best," Reese told the Chicago Tribune, which she later walked back.

Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that she will demand a trade if the Sky don't make the playoffs in the next couple of seasons.

Be that as it may, it does put the onus on them to continue to build out their roster or risk alienating one of their best players.

Angel Reese's comments draw criticism yet again

Of course, with Reese, many were quick to criticize her comments, essentially stating that she should be able to elevate the Sky to the playoffs if she were good enough. Additionally, some criticized her for making those comments, arguing that Reese lacks talent and hasn't earned the right to call out her team.

In her defense, she has been much better in her sophomore season than she was as a rookie. Through the Sky's first 30 games, she's averaging an impressive 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals.

Reese has also increased her true shooting by nearly 7% compared to last season in response to criticism over her lack of finishing ability. As a result, many of her advanced metrics have also improved, suggesting that she is indeed improving.

That's in contrast to what doubters may be saying online. Despite that, she continues to be a lightning rod online. Anything she says can be used against her, but she does have a point.

Angel Reese is right; the Sky must improve after an ugly season

The goal is to win and ultimately win a championship. If she feels that she can't do that in Chicago, then she has a right to stay as much. That might not make her many fans and alienate the ones she has.

However, it also could hopefully light a fire under the Sky's front office to make needed changes to bolster their roster next season.

Over the last two seasons, the Sky has won just 23 out of a possible 57 games, with further to fall. They still have several games remaining, but they have already been eliminated from playoff contention, further driving her point home.

All told, while Reese made her feelings known about her situation with the Sky, fans shouldn't expect a trade to happen as a result. Instead, the Sky will soon head into the off-season with a chance to further improve their roster and hopefully satisfy Reese.
