With several blockbuster deals out of left field, the 2025 NBA trade deadline was one to remember. Now, as teams aim to integrate their new pieces, the pressure ramps up for those looking to compete for a title this season. Three franchises, in particular, will be under a microscope for the remainder of the year following their decisions at the deadline. Let's analyze and break down why.

3) Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors were reportedly desperately seeking another star at the trade deadline, and it's easy to justify why. Nearing 37 years old, Stephen Curry may not have many years left, and the Warriors want to maximize their title window with him in town. They are aiming to do so with the newly formed trio of Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler.

The Warriors were so determined to land a star that they gave Butler a $121 million extension before he even played a game with the team. At 25-26, Golden State sits outside of the Play-In Tournament in the Western Conference, and they are banking on Butler helping them make a run. If he cannot, this move could very quickly be viewed as a failure, wasting more of Curry's remaining time.

2) Milwaukee Bucks

Like the Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks were also rumored to be star-hunting at the deadline. They did not land a name as flashy as Jimmy Butler, with their primary haul revolving around Kyle Kuzma. While Kuzma could help the Bucks strengthen their depleted athleticism and youth, it's far from a guarantee he can be a needle-mover alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.

The Milwaukee Bucks cannot afford another early exit from the NBA Playoffs. While their recent two first-round exits can largely be attributed to injuries, roster issues have also played a part. The Bucks need to make a run this season to maximize the Antetokounmpo-Lillard pairing. Yet another swift exit could be the catalyst behind more Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors this coming offseason.

1) Phoenix Suns

Things are murky for the Phoenix Suns. It seemed inevitable that they would land Jimmy Butler, only for him to end up in Golden State. They traded their incredibly valuable 2031 first-round pick for three less valuable first rounds, likely thinking they could be used in a Butler trade.

They allegedly dangled Kevin Durant in trade rumors, which he reportedly wasn't happy about. Bradley Beal knows that the team was certainly piecing together scenarios to move him before the deadline.

Phoenix has been in the news quite a bit lately.

Despite all of the drama, the Suns currently sit at 26-25, currently lodged in the Play-In. They have been up and down all season, and now, they simply have to put everything that has happened over these past few weeks behind them and play basketball.

If this team fails to make a run, there could be countless changes made this offseason. This is a team that boasts one of the most talented trios in the game and a championship-winning coast, so they have what it takes.
