2) Dylan Harper- Rutgers, Freshman, Guard
We could not talk about one star Rutgers freshman and exclude the other. Son of former five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, Dylan Harper has done nothing short of showing why he's the best guard prospect in this draft. Harper has elite size at the lead guard position, standing 6 feet 5 inches with a sturdy 210 lb frame.
Harper's elite size and strong frame allow him to maneuver his way on the court and get to any spot he wants. A taller Jalen Brunson or Pistons star guard Cade Cunningham. Harper isn't going to "wow" you with explosiveness like his freshman counterpart Bailey, but his poise and high basketball IQ as a floor general are what truly separate him.
Harper's all-around ability was fully displayed when he recorded a 16-11-12 triple-double against Columbia. It was the first triple-double in Rutgers history since 1983 when Roy Hinson did it against Rhode Island. He and Bailey became the second freshman pairing to each score 37 points in a game. De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk were the first to do so with Kentucky in 2016-17.
Harper is averaging 18-5-4 on 49% from the field and 34% from three. Harper's methodical style of play, elite size for a lead guard, IQ, and scoring ability from all over the floor are what will make him an All-Star.
