2026 NBA Power Rankings: Philadelphia Sixers
Philly fans, you were holding your breath waiting to see your team, weren’t you? Perhaps the most talented team in the league entering this season is the new-look Sixers, featuring three bona fide Hall of Famers, including LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and former Celtic Jaylen Brown.
That doesn’t even include All-NBA guard Tyrese Maxey, who has improved each season and is one of the fastest players, and V.J. Edgecombe, who’s a blossoming sophomore. James and Brown will provide the championship DNA and experience the Sixers need.
While Embiid looks to be in the best shape of his career since entering the NBA, the pressure is on. He won’t need to play massive minutes with a loaded team, which should ease his burden (at least offensively) and help him be healthy come playoff time. When healthy, he's arguably the most unstoppable force in the league, and teams won't be able to double him due to his supporting cast.
Brown showed he can lead a team as the top guy, and James showed last season with the Lakers that he’s willing to adjust his role and take a step back. The Sixers should be able to use Brown, Maxey, and Embiid as their primary scoring options, making them one of the most dynamic and well-rounded offenses.
Pair that with Edgecombe, who will be tasked with guarding the best perimeter player alongside Brown and can knock down corner jumpers, and the Sixers could be the most feared team in the NBA.
If and when they figure out their synergy as a team, it’ll make for appointment television.
