NBA Trade #5 and #4: The Sixers trade for Bojan Bogdanovic and OG Anunoby

With the Sixers currently projected to have up to $65 million in cap space, they may be unwilling to make any moves to jeopardize that unless it’s for a star. However, they could get out ahead of free agency by pursuing upcoming free agents in trades ahead of the deadline. There are quite a few players that fit that criteria, though they have also been rumored to have interest in above-average starters such as Bojan Bogdanovic and OG Anunoby.

Pursuing players such as Bogdanovic and Anunoby now, ahead of free agency, would give the Sixers a leg up heading into next summer while also improving their chances this season. To do so, it would likely require them to trade some of the assets received in the Harden deal to the Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, or both.

However, it might be worth it to build a better team now and ensure that they don’t put all of their eggs in the free agency basket. Upgrading now, rather than waiting and hoping to land a star or two next summer, is a smart move and a possible option, one that would probably keep Joel Embiid happy. After all, it would prove that the Sixers are actively looking to improve this season despite moving on from Harden.
