Fantasy Basketball: Jonathan Kuminga

Third-year forward Jonathan Kuminga is expected to play a more consistent role for the Golden State Warriors this season. While he hasn’t gotten off to a great start to the 2023–24 season, he showed improvement during the preseason, averaging a terrific 21.8 points in just 27.2 minutes per game. Kuminga also shot a blistering 45.8% on nearly five threes per game in the preseason.

Those numbers probably won’t translate to the regular season, but with future Hall of Famer Chris Paul now coming off the bench and taking Kuminga under his wing, there is hope that he could thrive playing alongside Paul.

If that were to happen, he could be a good pick-up option, especially since he is available in more than 75% of fantasy leagues. With the Warriors featuring several aging veterans who will likely have rest games, namely Draymond Green, Kuminga could find his way into the starting lineup fairly often and could also fill in for Andrew Wiggins.

An increased role, playing alongside an all-time great point guard, and opportunities to start should make him a viable option.
