NBA News: The Miami Heat deny trade rumors

Don’t believe their rumors, according to Miami Heat team president Pat Riley. Riley denied the frequent rumors that rising star Tyler Herro was on the trading block this past summer.

Whether that is true or not is up to you, but it seems clear that Herro took the rumors of a potential deal to heart and has vowed to have a strong season.

Riley and the Heat will certainly need him after they spent all summer chasing a star only to bring back most of their same team from last season, minus a couple of starters. Additionally, the two best teams in the league last season were both in the East and both the Bucks and Boston Celtics got significantly better.

Prior to his injury in Game 1 of the Heat’s first-round series against the Bucks, Herro was the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging more than 20 points per game. Ironically, Miami went on a historic run after his injury, suggesting that they didn’t need him to be able to compete. That might have been true but they will certainly need him this season.
