NBA Star #6: Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns’ addition to the list has less to do with numbers or snubs and everything to do with the emergence of shooting guard Anthony Edwards.

Edwards has seen his star rise after making significant strides in his first three seasons. He was not only tagged as the man for Team USA over the summer but he is also being looked at as such for the Minnesota Timberwolves as well.

This is where Towns comes in. If he is not the go-to guy, does his fit on the team begin to come into question?

Statistically, Towns has been known to give Minnesota a consistent double-double. However, last year showed that being teamed with Rudy Gobert in the front court did not yield the best output for their skill sets as a tandem. And odds are that Gobert would not be the piece of the ill-fit to move after acquiring him for four first-round draft picks.

It will be on Towns to find his place again. Preferably focusing more on winning than strange proclamations about his place in league history. After all, he only has three first-round playoff appearances in his eight-year career. Two of which have come with Edwards surging by his side.
