Grade the Trade: A 3-team Knicks-Mavs-Raptors deal

In the proposed three-team deal, the Knicks would add Pascal Siakam and Thaddeus Young. Meanwhile, the Raptors would add Maxi Kleber, RJ Barrett, and Isaiah Hartenstein, two firsts and two seconds, and the Mavericks would add Mitchell Robinson and Chris Boucher.

There is something for all three teams to like in this deal. For the Knicks, they’d add an all-star that would help boost their ceiling in a highly competitive East. After the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics both got significantly better, the Knicks may feel the need to respond by making a big deal of their own.

The Mavericks would get an upgrade at center in Robinson, something that they have tried all summer to do. Also, the Raptors would kick-start their rebuild by trading their best player, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season, while adding four picks and a good young player.

Even still, it’s not a given that each team would agree to the hypothetical deal, especially so close to the start of the season. Next, we’ll take a look and see whether each team would actually agree to the deal, starting with the Mavericks.
