Projected starting lineup: Washington Wizards

Point Guard: Tyus Jones
Shooting Guard: Jordan Poole
Small Forward: Corey Kispert
Power Forward: Kyle Kuzma
Center: Daniel Gafford

It’s hard to argue that the Wizards don’t have the worst starting lineup heading into the new season. Only two of their five starters have a case for being in the top 20 at their respective positions, and Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma are sure to have the green light as a result.

They may put up plenty of points, but it probably won’t be pretty or particularly efficient. At least they have a good playmaker in Jones, which is a luxury that most bad teams don’t have. Even then, no one in their starting five should scare opposing defenses, and they probably won’t stop teams from scoring either.

After trading stars Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis, this was the likely outcome, and at least the Wizards have chosen to rebuild. Unfortunately, they probably should have chosen to tank last season given the talent in the top 3 of this year’s draft. Landing the number-one pick in 2024 would still help. And based on this starting five, they could be well on their way.
