2. Magic upgrade to Herro
The Magic should look to clear their logjam by upgrading elsewhere. They just drafted Anthony Black and Jett Howard, who both have the size to play on the wing, but Orlando could add a scoring guard to make life easier on Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
Tyler Herro was rumored to be offered for Damian Lillard. Would the Heat consider trading the 23-year-old for a package of players and a first-round draft pick? Jrue Holiday just fetched two firsts, and Herro must improve to live up to his contract. It would likely be the best offer on the board if Miami decides to move on.
Anthony could replace Herro and Gary Harris would give the Heat another wing option to employ. The current Miami guard is a better scorer and shooter, but Anthony is the better playmaker. Both are subpar defenders and would need to be hidden on that end of the floor.
Would Orlando part with three players and a first-round pick for Tyler Herro? It is a significant price, but the Magic should be trying to jump into contention. Herro helped the Heat reach the NBA Finals in the bubble and is a proven bucket during the regular season. The Magic need his shooting and scoring punch to make a run.
If the Heat refuse to sell, the Orlando Magic could attempt to fill their biggest need.
