Player #4: Desmond Bane – 47.9 / 40.8 / 88.3 shooting splits in 2022-2023

At 4th most likely to join the 50/40/90 club we have the Memphis Grizzlies’, Desmond Bane. The 6’5” bulky guard has always been an elite three-point shooter since joining the NBA, shooting over 40% from beyond the arc in all three seasons. Last season was interesting in that his shooting volume increased and his FG% increased along with it, but he took a slight dip in efficiency from deep. Looking at the charity stripe, Bane is one of the best free-throw shooters in the entire league, entering next season with a career of 88.3% average.

Bane also resembles Brogdon in terms of size, position, and career split comparisons, however, Bane’s team situation next season will be very different from Brogdon’s role when he joined the 50/40/90 club. In 2023-2024, Bane will be forced into a bigger role with higher usage due to Ja Morant being suspended for 25 games, Dillon Brooks not being brought back to the team, and Tyus Jones being shipped out of town in the Marcus Smart trade.

Bane will be the primary scoring option to start the season which could provide mixed results on his overall efficiency. Despite this, his FT% and 3FG% should both be in line to join the 50/40/90 club, it will all come down to his FG% and if the load is too much for Bane to carry.
