#3: Russell Westbrook, LA Clippers

Every year, it seems that the collective NBA forgets that Kawhi Leonard and Paul George can’t finish a season anymore and still place the Clippers in the ranks of teams that could win a title. Of course, were both players ever healthy, they’d certainly deserve to be in those rankings.

While rumors continue to fly over whether the team can concoct a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers to land ever-disgruntled star James Harden, the team has made small moves along the margins by re-signing Mason Plumlee, and more importantly, Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook isn’t the same MVP caliber player that he used to be, but he was a major reason that the Clippers were able to stabilize their offense last year despite injuries to both of their stars. He’s accepted his place in the team’s pecking order, which makes him a fit with or without Harden.

If Westbrook becomes the sixth man for Los Angeles, his under-the-radar signing could be one of the most impactful in the NBA title race, as his burst and creation on the offensive end could be just what the Clippers need to finally get over that championship hump.
