Russel Westbrook – 2 years/$8 million – LA Clippers

Russell Westbrook was picked up by the LA Clippers late last season after a trade and a buyout. This kept him in Los Angeles after an abysmal Lakers run that was strenuous as soon as he arrived. Russ moving across the hall of the Crypto.com arena was a breath of fresh air for both him and the team.

Russ’ contribution to the Clippers made it clear that his efforts were not only needed but appreciated. It was a team that desperately needed some sort of point guard. Until Westbrook’s arrival, most of those duties were handled by their wings, who consistently faced injuries leaving coach Tyronn Lue clearly frustrated.

Everyone knows Westbrook is no longer a star, but his work on the Clippers in 21 regular season games and five playoff games proved he can contribute in the right situation. With the Clips being that situation it’s a great deal for them to retain him on a near veteran minimum deal, with a player option after one year.
